3Solid, But Uneven
By Ben C.A. Nettle
Our particular carrier came with no instructions (despite the box saying it should). It's not too difficult to put together, but we did have to unhook it and start over once (total time less than 10 minutes). Just make sure to hook the connector bar (top that goes over the 2 halves) first, otherwise if you tighten the other portion, the holes may not not line up, and you'll have to start over like we did. Otherwise, with a ratchet and crescent wrench it was a quick build, even with the minor problem.

Once hooked up, the hitch is just slightly smaller than our receiver, so it wobbles side to side, and ours has a definite left hand lean to it (one side sits 2-3 inches higher than the other). When weighed down, it's not as noticeable, but I'm not a fan of the way it looks tilted off to one side. I expect it will hold all the weight it says (2 of us were sitting on it and it seemed plenty sturdy), but it is neither a tight nor even fit in the receiver. It did hold our cooler and gear nicely, and has bars just small enough to get most bungee hooks on nicely, so for securing cargo it's pretty good.

Also, this carrier does not come with a hitch pin, so you will need to pick one up separately.

EDIT: As a follow up, within a few days of putting this on the Explorer, we got some rain and it started rusting. We've since followed the advice of the first reviewer and added a few coats of Rustoleum to it (we used the bedliner style since it protects against abrasion and is anti-slip). It actually makes it look nicer, but something intended to be out in the weather shouldn't be rusting after a few days.

5good product
By D. boyer
Received the hitch and within an hour had it together, painted, and installed...the product is as described...I also put two coats of paint on the item prior to installing...

the only draw-back I can see...if you have to use a 1 1/4 to 2 inch adapter, it seems to extend the carrier a little further out that I expected, but I can live with that..

believe that people who order this item will be satisfied........

5Hitch Mounted carrier
By L. A. Durante
Exactly as described, works great behind my Jeep. I did put 3 extra coats of rust oleum on it, that's just me. Very happy.
