4Good, but bring your own fasteners
By aPe
We bought this to ensure we'd have enough cargo room for the extra passengers who'd be riding from Florida back to Michigan with us recently. It's made of typical steel materials and I was pleased there were no sharp edges or such to damage cargo or assembler (me). It fits in the hitch slightly loose (typical else you couldn't plug insert it), but is sturdy and I've not had any problems with it clunking or moving (I do wedge small pieces of cardboard around the insert to help minimize these problems; I haven't tried it without the wedges). It's not light, but I can move it myself without much difficulty (it is a little big and bulky). My only complaint is the fasteners. Paramount actually popped for the more expensive aircraft / nylon locking nuts, but both nuts and bolts are a very cheap grade steel and the fine thread strips easily -- and I was careful not to torque too hard during assembly. After the second bolt stripped, I decided I wouldn't trust my cargo to tr avel 1000 miles on them and I went out and bought all new grade 5 bolts. It cost me $30, but the piece of mind was worth it and I haven't had any problems since. The things I like about this carrier are that I can open the tailgate on my Ford Flex with it mounted (but obviously not loaded) and that it's relatively close to the bumper so I don't have to worry about dragging it when I go up steep driveways (which can be a problem with the folding carriers because they stick out a lot further). It has two mounting positions so you can push it close to the bumper or farther away; I use the closer position. The tie-down holes are well placed and I haven't had any problem securing cargo. I also like the matching bike attachment which I will review separately (in addition to the Highland cargo bag).

4Nice unit
By Craig
I use this along with the Lund 601009 bike carrier attachment to haul 3 bicycles. It does a fairly nice job with using bungee cords to hold everything in place. The unit is a little heavy but works as intended. I would recommend this product.
