4Versatile low profile box
By Loren
I got this box for carrying skis and other gear for my Subaru Outback, and wanted a low profile as my garage door and ceiling are pretty low. This box fits well as it is low but pretty wide so easily carries 4 sets of skis and poles and could handle some additional stuff. And the ability to open from either side is essential.

The mounting system is very good as there are 4 clamps that push through 4 rubber seals in the box that run along a set of 4 tracks, so the clamps can be used anywhere along those tracks ranging from about 16 inches front to back if the roof bars are close to nearly 43 inches apart. The clamps are adjustable so can be tightened to close over a variety of bars, and the clamps fit the oval bars on the outback very well. This part of the system is definitely 5 star. I also like the idea that the clamps have handles with fairly big holes so you can snug down your skis or other cargo with bungee cords or straps so they don't slide around. I th ought the little straps included were cr@p so I substituted some bungee cords that work great.

The locking mechanism is ok, as you first have to insert the key and turn it to unlock, then depress the button, and then you can push up the lid of the box. It works ok, but sometimes the button is a little difficult and grabbing the edges of the box can also be a little tough, particularly if your hands are wet and cold from handling skis, etc. I like the idea that the key has to be used, but 5 stars means it can't get any better, and this could be easier. Mine also collected water from the snow on the skis and it pooled in the front and back and froze during the nights. After it softened, I picked up the ice and threw it out. Not sure if there should be a drain or not.

As to wind noise, cargo boxes do make a difference but this one is pretty quiet due to the low profile. On my car, it is quiet up to about 70 and then becomes noticeable. So I either draft a nother vehicle or turn up the music when things are moving fast. The good news is that it is very light and the clamps are great, so I take it of when not likely to use it, although I did mark the box and rubber seals so I can put the box back exactly where it was since I positioned it carefully the first time.

4Good looking and easy to install box
By Skiman
This box lived up to my expectations.
It is low profile, has a nice finish and sleek look that works well on my A4. It is low enough to fit into most parking garages and easy to install. Since it opens on both sides, it is easy to load with skis and has enough room to hold 4 pair of 'wide' skis and poles. I recommend it.

5Inno ahead of the game!
By newenglandskier
This ski box I bought for my 2004 saab 9-3 sedan and it looks great! Its low profile and very quiet compared to most boxes on the road. I previously had a thule on my car but it was getting old and it was noisy. This however, makes little noise and will make even less once the fairing is on it. Took me 1 minute or less to install as the clamps are simple and easy to use.
Highly recommended for smaller cars who want a sleek looking low profile box!
